Our Teachers
Using the Swimbrite method requires instructors to be knowledgeable and experienced swimmers themselves. Many of our teachers have stood on the podium or have competed themselves and others come from a sports science and coaching background.
Teaching babies, children and adults to gain confidence and learn to swim is a sensitive matter. That's why our teachers are qualified and hold either ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) or STA (Swimming Teachers' Association) qualifications.
Each staff member has a CRB Enhanced Disclosure, update every 3 years.
We hand-pick and select teachers who have a great understanding of children and people, love swimming and patience in bucket-loads! This will help you or your child to relax and learn in an unpressurised environment, wanting to come back for more each week.
All our teachers are excellent swimmers and can demonstrate or "show-off" their skills in the pool! They all wear our uniform as they will be in the water for most of the lesson!

Deborah Masser - Founder
My introduction to swimming started at the age of 3 when my mum took me to my local swimming baths. From the first point I dipped my toe in the water there was no stopping me! By the age of 6 I had achieved all my awards from swimming a mile to achieving Gold!
Having worked in the leisure industry for many years and having 3 children of my own, swimming has played a massive part of my life. I worked for the Village Hotel for many years, in fact when the Village first opened over 20 years ago I was one of the instructors.
After working for the Village, management decided they wanted someone to take over all the lessons and several company’s put in bids to win the business; having over 20 years teaching experience and 3 lovely children I thought if anyone should win the business it should be me. And I did!
Swimbrite then evolved and from the onset has gone from strength to strength, thanks to a dedicated team of instructors and of course for the continuous support of our learners..

Nicholas Coulson - Head Coach
Swimming has and always will be a major part of my life. Everyone that knows me associates me with water and swimming before anything else. I have been swimming for as long as I can remember. I swam competitively for 7 years competing in national and international finals.
My passion for swimming never died, that’s why I now teach. I want to let others experience and enjoy the sport hopefully as much as I do.
I have grown a lifelong relationship with swimbrite over the four years I have been teaching for them. The school is a close nit family run business and offers a friendly environment for children to come and learn to swim.
Kim Lupton
My name is Kim, and I am currently studying Physical Education at University, progressing onto my teaching year afterwards. I have been teaching swimming for 2 years now and started off volunteering.. loved it and am now a qualified Level 2 instructor. I also have a background in coaching hockey, football and tennis and have worked with children for many years, and it is one of the most rewarding jobs i have ever done.
Katt Webb
I began swimming lessons at the age of 3 and have been a very keen swimmer ever since. At 12 I joined my home team Stockport Metro, but being very non-competitive myself decided to move on to a less competitive club. From here I completed a pool helpers course at 14, and began to assist swimming teachers at the club I swam at. I then went on to complete my Level 1 and Level 2 swimming teachers course, and have been teaching as a fully qualified swimming teacher for over 5 years.
Swimming has always been a huge passion of mine, and something that I have always enjoyed. It is a joy to share my passion with the children that I teach and watch how they progress into competent swimmers.
I am an ex competitive swimmer and after completing my level 1 teaching aquatics I turned to coaching. And for the past four years I have coached at various clubs. I have only been teaching for a few months with swimbrite
Jennie Piela
I have swam and played water-polo from a young age. A sport I continued throughout my university career. I have been a swimming teacher since I was 14 and it is something I am very passionate about.

I have my Level 2 ASA Swimming teaching qualification and my RLSS Lifeguard. I have been swimming teacher for almost two years within a range of environments, from international summer schools to local leisure centre. I`m a student at Leeds metropolitan university currently in my first year of my physical education course, with the long term goal to become a PE teacher. I am often described as fun, motivating and reliable, I always try to produce this positive attitude in my lessons within Swimbrite.
Hannah Flowers
My names Hannah and I have been a teacher at swimbrite for 3 years. I am working as a swimming teacher whilst studying for a law degree. I have been swimming competitively from a young age also competing at an advanced level in synchronised swimming.
Dani Penney
I first started swim teaching when I was in America for ten weeks at a summer camp which had two outdoor pools. I loved it so much that when I arrived home I began working for Swimbrite and gained my level 2 teaching aquatics certificate. I have a great passion for swimming and love being able to teach children of all ages and abilities.
Callum Carson
I have been coaching and playing a wide variety of sports since before I can remember. My family are all teachers and we also used to be foster carers, which was a huge incentive to work with children aswell as wanting to pursue a career in sport. I started swimming teaching 5 years ago, it began as a part time job while I was studying sport at university and now I work full time for Swimbrite. It is an absolutely fantastic company to work for and I feel privileged that my job involves coaching sport, working with children and so much enjoyment everyday!
